A fine of €50,000 has been issued to Swedish football icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic by the Appeals body of UEFA, a European football governing body, following an investigation into the Swedish national’s financial investment in BetHard Group, a Malta-licensed iGaming company.
The investigation questioned whether Mr Ibrahimovic had violated of UEFA’s rules on the ‘ethics and integrity of football’.
A fine of €25,000 was also issued to Mr Ibrahimovic’ current football club, AC Milan, for allowing its player to have a financial interest in an online gambling company, violating UEFA regulations.
As reported by igamingcapital-mt.casinowinning.net, Bethard is in the process of being acquired by Esports Entertainment Group (EEG), a full-stack Esports and online gambling company for approximately $27 million (€22.1 million).
BetHard Group Ltd is licensed in both Malta and Sweden.
