In December 2021, a young Italian naval engineer had his life changed forever when, while in Malta, he slipped on his bike, and got hit by a car, resulting in the loss of his right leg.

Doctors feared he would die, as beyond the loss of his leg, he suffered two brain haemorrhages, a bilateral contusion to the lungs, two deep fractures to the vertebrae, and experienced several other issues.

As he continues to undergo painful rehabilitation, Vincenzo is aware that to regain control of his life, and return to a level of normalcy he enjoyed before the accident, he requires advanced prostheses to start walking, playing sports and resume refereeing.

Click here to read on as to why more than one prosthetic limbs are needed.

Each prosthetic leg runs in the tens of thousands of euro, which he its neither his family nor himself are able to afford. He is now turning to the wider community to help fund his journey.

Vincenzo is described as a survivor and a fighter, and “to be able to even walk again he needs to raise more money than should ever be morally required to be able to get the prosthetic limbs to have a shell of his old life,” a Malta-based iGaming professional on the island shared.

In a major drive to help his friend move past the life-changing accident and return to a life he recognises, iGaming Group’s Giuseppe Ricceri, a close friend of Vincenzo, is attempting to raise awareness and direct the public to Vincenzo’s gofundme page.

Vincenzo is hoping to raise a staggering €256,000 to move past this dark period in his life and, to do so, “different devices are needed, which must be periodically revised and replaced after a few years”.

Writing on his page, Vincenzo shares:

“I have great ambitions for my future, I dream of being able to participate in the Paralympics, get to Everest base camp, do the Camino de Santiago and I don’t want this to be denied for me for a purely economic problem.”
