Malta Gaming Authority issues new guidance for exhibitors of gaming devices

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has issued a reminder to exhibitors and organisers about the regulatory requirements surrounding the display of gaming devices at fairs, exhibitions, and similar events. According to the Gaming Devices (Exhibition of Gaming Devices) Ruling, Directive 4 of 2019, entities planning to exhibit such devices must obtain an official Exhibition of Gaming Devices Approval.

The directive applies to any event where gaming devices are showcased, including gaming-related exhibitions and networking events that involve the operation of exempt games. The MGA clarified that a “gaming device” encomes a wide range of equipment, including electrical, electronic, and mechanical devices, gaming tables, tickets, and other objects used for gaming services or connected to wagering and determining game outcomes.

Exhibitors interested in displaying gaming devices are required to submit an ‘Exhibition of Gaming Devices Application Form’ via email to [email protected]. Applications must be submitted at least two weeks before the event.

This move aims to ensure that all gaming device exhibitions comply with Malta’s regulatory framework.
