‘I’m so proud of all our 700+ amazing women working at Betsson Group’ – Betsson HR Chief

Lena Nordin, Chief of HR at Betsson Group, has celebrated the company’s commitment to inclusion and diversity, with, saying: “I’m so proud of all our 700+ amazing women”.

“With 62 nationalities and almost 40 per cent women, we make it a priority to empower our people”, Ms Nordin explained on social media.

The iGaming giant has several activities focused on diversity and inclusion, amongst which, she explains, is its own internal network, ‘WIBE’ (Women in Betsson), which is open to everyone with the aim to “ and motivate” Betsson’s “talented employees throughout their journey and promote diversity” within the iGaming industry.

A reckoning for iGaming?

Ms Nordin was making the comments as discussion has been provoked about the state of diversity and inclusion in the industry.

Last month, controversy was sparked with the publication of the Judging for the Global Gaming Awards London, which featured only one woman.

Subsequently, several prominent women in the industry have come forward to discuss their experience working in the typically male-dominated field.

One such industry player, Abby Rachel Cosgrave, who founded SafeComply Group and is a Non-Executive Director at Betsson Group, reflected on times when she felt excluded due to her gender, and acknowledged that she’s never called it strongly enough when it happened”, to avoid being seen as difficult.

Ms Cosgrave and Ms Nordin are ed by Maire Theobald, Chief People Officer at Hero Gaming, who has acknowledged that: “We still have a long journey ahead of us – as an industry, we need to become more diverse, especially at senior levels”.

Addressing the debate, Ms Nordin commented: “There has been a lot of noise regarding diversity and inclusion within iGaming recently and I think it’s great that we are actively talking about it.

“At Betsson Group, diversity is a natural part of being a Betssonite, it is the foundation for our great company culture”.
