As Malta prepares to celebrate the Feast of St Joseph, a public holiday honouring the patron saint of workers and families, BetStarters COO Glenn Debattista took to LinkedIn to share a nostalgic reflection on mid-week breaks and how they could impact the modern work environment.

“Being a public holiday on a Wednesday kinda reminded me of when I went to secondary school,” he shared. “Back then, we used to have Wednesdays off and would attend school on Saturdays. Made me wonder how it would be if we actually worked that way – Wednesday and Sunday off, Saturday’s work – but I think most would hate it!” he mused.

The iGaming industry is known for its fast-paced and often round-the-clock operations, making mid-week breaks a rare luxury. As a Chief Operating Officer, he understands the balance between maintaining business continuity and ensuring team well-being.

While a mid-week public holiday might stir playful musings about alternate work schedules, Mr Debattista acknowledges the value of a well-timed pause. “Either way, it’s nice to have a mid-week day off, so thank you, St Joseph!” he added, inviting others to share whether they’ll be in work mode or relax mode.

For iGaming professionals, such reflections highlight an ongoing conversation around work-life balance in an industry that rarely sleeps.
